Applesauce Pie

Since I just made a large "batch" of applesauce I had enough to make one of my all time favorite pies!  If you love applesauce and if you love apple pie, then you will be squealing with delight when you taste applesauce pie!  I like mine served à la mode (with ice cream)! It’s especially good when you make it with homemade applesauce, but you can also use store bought jarred applesauce for convenience.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
I used a 9-inch deep dish pie pan

Ingredients:
2 pie crusts
4 cups applesauce*
1 egg, beaten
2 Tablespoons butter, melted
1 Tablespoon flour
*I made my applesauce with a bit of vanilla and cinnamon.  If you are using store bought jars of applesauce, you can add a tablespoon of vanilla and a couple sprinkles of cinnamon.

Place one pie crust in pie pan.
Mix together remaining ingredients and pour into the pie pan.  Cover with 2nd pie crust, pinching together the edges & cutting off excess.  Use a knife to cut 3 or 4 slits in the top crust.  You can brush lightly with an egg wash (1 beaten egg mixed with 1 tablespoon water) for a shiny golden top crust.  Bake 45 minutes until the crust is golden.
